artist statementMy painting practice is fueled by an unquenchable thirst for learning, for change, and for the exploration of new ideas. I find personal satisfaction and fulfillment through constant evolution, both in my work and as a human being. Through painting, I guarantee my own progression, using creativity to navigate and embrace change, even when it feels uncomfortable.
I am viscerally impassioned by color. I embrace the fullest range of hues in my palette, allowing each to play a vital role in the unfolding of a piece. When I paint, I am not merely arranging color and form; I am uncovering the essence of who I am—expressing intangible truths with raw honesty. This intuitive process gives me a deep sense of belonging, as each canvas becomes a reflection of the spirit and a practice of mindful presence. In a world that often feels rushed and chaotic, I hope my work inspires others to pause, be present, and reconnect with their own creative spirit. For me, painting is more than an art form; it is a way to align with my truest self and offer stillness in the midst of life’s relentless pace. biographyKaren Isailovic is a creative visionary whose journey as a painter began in 2002 in Maryland, where she was born and raised. She trained in realism, landscape/plein air, and worked with multiple mediums, including oil, pastel, and watercolor, at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and the Corcoran School of Art. However, it was in 2015, when she was introduced to abstract painting in acrylic, that she discovered her true artistic voice.
Karen's practice is grounded in the belief that painting is not only a creative pursuit but also a form of mindfulness—a way to be fully present and immersed in the moment. Her work explores the use of vibrant color and intuitive processes to express the intangible essence of the human spirit, offering a reflection of her inner journey. In addition to her artistic career, Karen founded Root Studio in 2017, a creative wellness center that leveraged the principles of neuroaesthetics to help others reconnect with their own creativity and sense of presence. Throughout her career, Karen has consistently found ways to merge her artistic practice with leadership and community engagement. From running Prime Corporation, a successful general contracting business, to guiding Root Studio as a pioneering space for creative wellness, Karen has always been driven by a desire to inspire others to pause, reflect, and connect with their inner worlds. In addition to her creative endeavors, Karen is the mother of two grown daughters and remains committed to fostering community through the transformative power of art. |
